Creative Playtime

Once a week I’m trying to do a simple creative exercise to get out of my own head and current work. (basically art playtime). I’m choosing random objects and materials and just seeing what happens. I am positive that most of this art won’t be fantastic and worthy of museums, but that isn’t really the point. I’ve said before that the foundation of creativity is playtime and that is the goal of these exercises. I’m going to explore and perhaps I’ll make imagery that inspires something more. During this session I played with a bag of beads I had, arranging them in ways I found attractive. I’m really excited about this concept of simple creative exercises that are almost subconscious in nature. They can potentially create powerful psychological connections and meaningful symbolism.

After I finished playing and arranging; I manipulated the exposure of my photographs to create more graphic, abstract images. I’ve also included the titles of each photo; basically the first words that came to mind when I made each of these compositions.
